How to start a relationship with Jesus

Talk to God.

Like any relationship that is broken, the offender must confess their wrong and seek forgiveness. You need to admit before God that you have rebelled against Him, that you deserve punishment, and that you’re asking for forgiveness because Jesus died in your place. You’ll also need to ask God to help you change from being in ultimate charge of your life to being someone who lives with Jesus as their leader.

This prayer is an example. It is believing what you're confessing that restores your relationship with God.

God, I know that I am not worthy to be accepted by You. I don't deserve Your gift of eternal life. I am guilty of rebelling against you. I need Your forgiveness. Thank You for sending Your son, Jesus, to take my place, my punishment, and die for me that I may be forgiven. Thank You that He rose from the dead to give me new life. Please forgive me and change me, that I may live with Jesus as the leader of my life. Amen.

Start following.

It’s only because of Jesus (and His death and resurrection) that you can be forgiven and put right with God. You’ll need to remind yourself of this over and over, because as you start to live God’s way, you will still fail and do the wrong thing. We all do. We all need to keep looking back to the death of Jesus on the cross as the only grounds for our forgiveness. We must never stop depending on Jesus—and Jesus alone—as the means by which we are forgiven and gifted eternal life. He helps you by empowering you to change and live His way through His Spirit, who lives within you (the moment you believed).

If you have made this life-changing decision to believe and follow Jesus, please reach out to our pastor, who would love to talk with you about this new life in Jesus
