BAPTISM PROCESS

Baptism is a way of showing others that you believe in Jesus' death and resurrection

Process

If you think baptism is the next step for you, take 2 minutes to watch the baptism explanation video, which was on the previous page. If you still want more information on baptism, please watch to Andy’s talk “Going Public.” He answers the questions we are most often asked about baptism.

Complete the baptism application (button below). Once we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule your videotaping and baptism.

For students and adults:

  • Read about making your video (below). We want you to be as comfortable and prepared for the video as possible.
  • Attend a meeting with our pastor and film your testimony (filming is encouraged).
  • Get baptized! Baptisms take place during one of the Sunday services and include a showing of your prerecorded video prior to your baptism.

For kids:

  • Attend a meeting with your coordinator or our pastor. Filming is optional.
  • Get baptized! Baptisms take place during one of the Sunday services.

Filming Your Story

One of the most powerful aspects of baptism at South Ridge is the video testimony shown right before your baptism. The video gives you the opportunity to share how you came to know Jesus Christ as your Savior and how he has been working in your life.

Prerecording allows you to do as many takes as necessary while sharing the message you have thoughtfully and prayerfully prepared ahead of time. Many people ask, “Do I have to do the video?” The answer is yes—if you want to be baptized at South Ridge Church.

Baptism is meant to be a public profession, and it is an incredible opportunity to share God’s message of redemption with thousands of people. We have witnessed the life-changing effects these videos have had on people’s lives.

Another important reason we do the videos is that we as a congregation grow in our faith by watching these stories. They allow friends, family, and even those you don’t know to celebrate the amazing transformation Christ has worked in your life.

Some people are nervous about taping their stories, but we work hard to make the process both simple and fulfilling. After you’ve scheduled your baptism and filming date, you will receive emails with guidelines and information to help you prepare for your filming. One Sunday a month, we have a meeting with the baptism candidates for that month, where we go over everything they need to know about the baptism process and the videotaping. The video will be taped on the day of your meeting, which usually takes place two or three weeks before your baptism.

We want baptism to be a meaningful and enjoyable experience, and we look forward to walking through it with you! If you have any questions or need help preparing your testimony, please contact us at baptism@southridge.us.
