BABY DEDICATION

Our BabyD is more than just an event.

What is BabyD?

No one will have more influence on your child than you! We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. It is our hope that we can partner with you from the very beginning. We want to be your biggest fans, your strongest supporters, and your trusted guides as you raise your child to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Baby Dedication is more than an event. It is a 3-step process that creates an opportunity for you to take some time at the beginning of your journey as a parent to really think about what will matter the most in the life of your child — to really talk together and decide what you value and what you can do today that will have the greatest impact on your child’s future.

Questions & Answers

When is the next BabyD?

Spring 2024

Before the celebration . . .

How much does the Baby Dedication cost?

There is no cost to participate in the Baby Dedication.

Is there an age limit?

The typical dedication is from newborn to 6 years old.

How many children can we dedicate?

As many of your children as you want between the age range.

How many people can I invite?

We will reserve 1-2 tables with 6-14 chairs for you and your family. All other guests are welcome to sit in our overflow seating area.

What do I need to do between now and the day of the celebration?

Invite your friends and family. We encourage you to watch two short videos (Imagine The End and Widen The Circle) in preparation for the event. These videos contain homework challenges that you are encouraged to complete.

What do I need to bring with me?

Besides your friends, family, and child (don’t forget them at home!), there really isn't anything you need to bring.

The day of the celebration . . .

What time should we arrive?

Doors open half an hour prior to the celebration start time.

What should we wear?

Whatever you and your little one will feel most comfortable in! Some people dress casually in jeans, while others wear more formal attire.

Is this an infant baptism?

No. We believe that a child must be old enough to understand what it means to put their faith in Jesus Christ before they can be baptized. This event is an opportunity for you as parents to publicly declare that you want to raise your child to develop their own relationship with Jesus Christ.

I can barely get my child to sit still long enough to get them dressed. How will they survive the entire celebration day event?

Your child will make noise during the celebration day event. But that’s okay, because so will everyone else’s!

Will there be a photographer?

We will have a photographer and a photography vignette set up for family photos. Please feel free to bring your own camera.

What can I expect on the day of the celebration?

The event should last no more than an hour. The event will include a welcome, a couple songs, a short message, and individual family prayer. During this time, you will have an opportunity to share your homework. There will also be a mingling time before and after the event. We will provide appetizers and dessert after the event.

We are so excited to start this journey with you and your family! If you have any further questions, feel free to send us an email at babyd@southridge.us. If you're ready to take the next step toward dedicating your child, please sign-up below.
